Emacs has its own ephemeral *scratch* buffer. Usually this is
in Lisp Interaction Mode, but it can be set to any mode, including
Fountain Mode.
If you would like a persistent scratchpad file, the author maintains the Emacs package Side Notes to display and edit a notes file in a side window.
